(Cloudy) Full Moon Hike & Wine

I readily admit that i like Facebook’s public sharing of activities. I’m a man that loves information and knowing what’s going on with friends and family’s going ons. This past week i noticed that my old disney co-worker current LA Times writer Esme joined a evening hike and thought it looked fun and joined in on the event. The Paseo Miramar trail to Parker Mesa overlook is out in the Pacific Palisades up at the top of some secluded neighborhood. The trail is 2.5 miles straight up that suppose to lead to an area that looks out to the ocean, but it was overcast all day, and we ended up hiking deeper…

    Glow with the Show

A few weeks ago when my parents went to California Adventures they got a note from on of the FastPass machines telling them to register for a Glow with the Show event for annual pass holders. Initially we had no idea what it was all about, but after a little googling we found out its all about their new light up ears.  These new Mickey ears light up to different colors and at specific shows will sync together to create a show all on their own. We got there before 10:30pm and wait for about an hour in the back of the park until the last World of Color show finished…

    Morning drive to Cars Land

I’m sure not a kid anymore. Waking up before 6:30am for a trip to Disneyland used to be the easiest thing to do as a kid. Now i’m thinking of excuses to keep me in bed. None the less, with our early entry pass to California Adventures we got to check out Cars Land before the crowds got into the park. And just as a warning don’t watch the videos if you don’t want to know how the rides are. The new Land is really well done and it makes you feel like you stepped into the movie. From Mater’s Junk Yard to Flo’s v8 cafe, all the little details…

    Mad T Paaaarty

The party continues at California Adventures even with the closure of elecTRONica with the new fun of the Mad T Party. Gone is the techno music and in with the rock music. A big stage replaces the circle DJ booth, and a high pitched Mad Hatter and pretty cute Punk Rock Alice take stage for some classic white people music (Bon Jovi), and a few modern hits too. Its pretty strange to see long lines at the alcohol booths and kids on shoulder right up against the stage. Another stage area occupies the opposite side fo the backlot and Flynn’s Arcade also changed to a Alice and Wonderland themed games.

    Vegas, Vegas

The one thing we knew that we were going to do when Joy’s parents came back from Thailand was go to Las Vegas. We just happened to decide to go this pass weekend because we didn’t want to wait for fear of the weather being too unbearable, but i’m not sure if going in 105° was any better. I rented a van through hotwire.com and ended up getting Hertz (which sucked) but nevertheless was fine. We picked up my parents on Saturday morning and made it up to Vegas in little over 4 hours even with two pitstops in Barstow, and the border. We started off getting some Asian BBQ…

    In-Laws in Town

Its been over a year since Joy’s parents retired and went back to Thailand and now that the sucky season of Thailand has arrived they’ve come back to the states for the summer and fall. There was a prep work that had to get done, but somehow it snuck up on us and we ended up scrambling to get it all done. The first thing we had to do was to clear out all my clothes from the 2nd bedroom and move it into our bedroom. The first go around there wasn’t much space for my stuff so i ended up having to live out of boxes so it was…

    Transformers the Ride

Transformers the Ride Universal Studios is officially opening up at the end of the month and i had no idea that it was coming. The Manichans invited me to a special invite preview and with Joy in vegas for a bachelorette party i invited a basketball friend who i never knew actually graduated from Cerritos High the same year as i did. We got a special entrance to the side of the main gate and got early entrance to the park where we had free reign of the ride for a few hours in the morning. Its pretty fun to just walk through the park with no one around to bump into you,…

    SF Saturday & Sunday

After a night of drinking i thought that i was going to be in for one hell of a morning, but Joy was kind enough to layout some advil and water for me when i got back to the room, so the next morning wasn’t so bad. We hopped onto the F-Line and headed down to the Fisherman’s Wharf to meet up with my parents for some mini-donuts and coffee. These are my mom’s favorite and never wants to share. We took some touristy pictures and enjoyed the bright blue skies, and warm sun that I’m not used to up north. Still without much of plan for the day we…

    SF Thursday & Friday

Its been a few years since i’ve been up to the bay with all my family and we made the most of it. We arrived into the city on Thursday morning with Nina picking us up and heading over to her house to meet Janie. Once we all got a chance to hang out and she was fed and back to sleep, Nina had two hours before her next feeding to take us to the Thursday Farmers Market at the Ferry Building for lunch and snacks. The first stop was the infamous Roli Roti Prochetta Sandwich which is basically a pork on pork love sandwich. We strolled through the plaza picking…

    Hanging with Janie

This past week Joy and I flew up to San Francisco to check out the new kid around the block. It really makes a difference when it comes to a baby that you’re really related to, to have pictures being sent everyday actually interesting. Honestly every other baby picture i could care less about but i find it interesting every day when my mom sends me one of her sleeping, or being fat, or just doing nothing. Joy is a natural with kids (thank god someone is) and I think everyone got a kick out of it when they were like, let Johnny hold the baby like it was a…

    Two Wheeling It

To my mom’s dismay i decided to take the Motorcycle basic rider course so that i could get my class M1 Driver license. I don’t ever intend on buying a motorcycle but i do intend on buying a scooter. Joy’s parents are coming back from Thailand to stay for a few months and rather than buying another car i figured that i could just get a scooter for the upcoming summer months, and even save some gas. Ideally i’m looking to get a Vespa or another classis like a Honda Super Cub (which there are 60 million on the road), but in reality i’ll probably end up getting a Honda Metropolitan.

    I’m an Uncle

For the past week my mom has been in San Francisco waiting for my sister to pop. Days went by, and the only updates that i got were of them going out to eat, walking the dog, and napping. The arrival day passed and it seemed like Kumquat (Kaylee Jane) was never going to come. It all changed when i got a text from my mom at 4:30am on Friday saying that she was coming and they were going to the hospital. Eventually i woke up and headed to work with updates like: 6:34am Nina: Dude, this suuuuuuuuuucks. 8:54 Mom: She ok, in pain every 2 min 10:26 Mom: Almost…
