    Fantasy Football 2013

My favorite time of the year for Football is back again, and its getting even more stressful than ever. I’m in a total of four different leagues once again, and the first draft of the season was for my long time, high school friends,  All VETO n NO TRADE league. Its our 9th year together and while i might have won the 1st year of the league, I haven’t been able to repeat that success since. 12 team league, 6pts for passing TD, and 1/3 point per reception $300 auction draft This year i put in a lot of time putting together my draft sheet, and a basic strategy for how much…

    2013 Fantasy Baseball

The spring is here and its time for baseball season to start again. 99% of the people that read my blog could care less about baseball, and in reality i could too, but i still love fantasy baseball. I’ve been playing since the early 2000s on a now defunct website called sandlot.com. Back then i didn’t know much about the individual players, but now i can probably name you the utility man sitting on the bench on any team. Most people i know who do play fantasy sports play football which is more of a constant weekly obsession, fantasy baseball is much more of a marathon. Having your first, or…

    Food Bloggers Super Bowl

For the actual Super Bowl i was invited to attend the Fantasy Food Blogger Football League’s BBQ at the Ravenous Couple‘s house. It was a good opportunity to meet more of the blogging community and to test out some of my cooking skills. We ended up not staying till the end because we were so tired from the 10K in the morning that we headed home with the lights went out after half time.  I did end up winning the Final Super Bowl Square score with the safety, and put those winning towards next year’s Food Blogger Bowl. I wanted to get a little creative and went into my mind to find…

The end of Fantasy Football 2012

The Fantasy Football season has come to an end and in the two leagues that count, i came in third in my high school league (The All VETO n NO TRADE League)  and missed the playoffs in my food bloggers league. As far as the The All VETO n NO TRADE League went, it was an interesting season and i’m pretty happy that i made a mid-season trade to get Calvin Johnson and Darren Sproles for Alfred Morris, WIllis McGahee, and DeSean Jackson, but i really needed an elite wide receiver to go along my depth of running backs (Forte, Charles), but the MVP of my team was Drew Brees…

    Sunday Football

I typically don’t make it a point to watch football on Sundays, but if i’ve got a free morning there’s nothing better than waking up, making a cup of coffee and lounging on the couch watching fantasy analysis on which players are in and who are out, and making last minute adjustments to my fantasy teams. This Sunday Joy had a Seminar to go to so i had the morning to myself on the couch so turned on ESPN, and logged onto the Yahoo! fantasy chat to check out the days events. Once the clock hit 10am the rosters got locked in and i was ready to watch some football.…

Fantasy Football: Out of the money

Before i even got started i’m out of the running to win the The All VETO n NO TRADE League. On the Thursday night game, my opponent had both Philip Rivers and Vincent Jackson playing which put me down 50 points even before any of my players took the field. It was a great season none the less considering that what ever happens this weekend for 3rd place will be my best finish in five years. I had a very strange season relying on mainly wide receivers (Andre Johnson, Miles Austin, Jeremy Maclin, Malcom Floyd, and Mike Williams (TB)) and as expected gave me very lopsided scores one way or another. I came…

    The drafts results are in

This year i’m currently in 6 Fantasy Football leagues at Yahoo! Fantasy Sports. The last draft occurred yesterday without me present, but its just a league that i’ve been playing with for probably the last 6 years, and i don’t really care about. A new league i was lucky enough to join this year is one of consisting of entirely food bloggers i’ve followed on Twitter. http://twitter.com/ravenouscouple http://twitter.com/gastronomyblog http://twitter.com/KrisDub http://twitter.com/kungfoodpanda http://twitter.com/twohungrypandas http://twitter.com/kitchenrunway http://twitter.com/nomsnotbombs http://twitter.com/TriceraPops http://twitter.com/ChefAustinSzu http://twitter.com/tsicecream http://twitter.com/djjewelz We’ll see if they’re food cravings can match their football knowledge. More importantly entering its 7th season, the The All VETO n NO TRADE League which is the only league that i have…

    Miami Cheats

If you just got back into town, don’t watch tv, don’t listen to sports talk radio i’ll just let you know that LeBron James decided to take his skills to South Beach. I’m not quite sure that counts as Miami, but i guess it is the closest team to South Beach. To me it would have been as if he said i’m taking my skills to Hermosa Beach, sure its in LA County, but not quite saying Los Angeles. LeBron joins Wade and Bosh who a day earlier announced that they were joining the Heat to form the new Big 3, Larry Moe and Curly, Snap Crackle and Pop super…

    the Winner of the bracket

Thanks to Duke, i’m the winner. It all came down to Brian and I with the winner of Duke (my pick) vs. West Virginia (Brian’s) with the winner coming out with the most points in my NCAA bracket tournament. I really have no idea what i was doing, i just went by the rule that don’t count out the Dukies, especially after hearing all the experts just complaining about them getting a number one seed this year, so i knew something was up. I’ll have to get ready to repeat next year with as much research i did this year. Absolutely none. I think this is the first time that…

    Fantasy Failure

So with high hopes entering the Fantasy Football Playoffs in Toan’s league, it all came to a screeching halt in the first round. Leading up to the playoffs my team started to really come together making it to the top of the of standings but my team took a inopportune time to feel like they didn’t need to score any touchdowns. It was just an unfortunate week for all the top seeds except for Chris to fail making it out of the first round. The silver lining was that i did finish first in the regular season, but that in no way makes up for losing out on the big…

    Best 3rd place finish

The baseball season has finally ended, and the Dodgers won the National League, and the Angles won the AL West. The best thing of all on the last day of the regular season is that i gained three points in my Fantasy Baseball League, and tied for 3rd place and into the money. I was down below the cut line for most of the past two months, but slowly started creeping back up, and to dome clutch play of a few of my players i gained three points in the standing and tied my old intern friend for the final place. The season was a complete disaster with my keepers…

    Fantasy Football Sunday

Joy’s out of the house early this Sunday morning to get her hair straighten so i get to spend the morning on the couch eating a ham and egg sandwich, checking on my fantasy team, and watching the New England vs. Baltimore game. It seems like the Yahoo! free GameChannel seems to be running more smoothly than at week 1 when it took ten minutes just to load up. I’ve personally have $30 (which is a lot to me) on a certain league that i’m in with some of my high school friends who i probably see only once a year, and thats only if Shane throws some BBQ sometime…
