    Visiting the Endeavour

Sunday morning i usually like to get out and go for a run, but after running 3 days last week, plus basketball practice it was a good day to take a rest. Joy decided it would be a good day to go to the California Science Center and check out the Space Shuttle Endeavour. The Science Center is a donation base entrance, but to see the actual shuttle is $2/person for a reserved time to enter the pavilion. We got there about two hours before our scheduled time (when we got there, they were letting in anyone with a ticket) and explored the museum fully before going to see the shuttle.…

    LVI Practice

This will be my third year playing in the LVI tournament in September and really want to win this year, so i reached out to see if our team could get together for some practice time. I was really pleased that got 7 people to join us at the gym. We were able to really talk about lineups, offensive and defensive strategy which we’ve never had before. We would normally just show up in Vegas, shake hands and basically just start playing. After practice we all headed over to Class 302 for some shaved snow which a few people have never had before. I really like the Mango one because…

    Top 10 Rides of Disneyland

This list is my top 10 Rides of Disneyland for older kids and adults. These rides are a mix of old world Disney imagineering, and the funnest rides in the park that you shouldn’t miss. This also means that these rides will be the more popular rides which will mean for longer wait times. The biggest tip i can give for any ride is if you are faced with an option of a fork in the queue and is to choose the path to the right. The reason for this is that most rides allow people in wheelchairs to cut the lines of the left queue, and the time it…

    #EAT2

Saturday evening we had our 2nd dinner party with Joy’s friends at Emily’s house.  The group is growing so we need big locations to hold every everyone’s growing family. Its always fun to get together to share stories and the newborns, and joke about how tired everyone is now a days. There was so much food to enjoy and i like how different but similar in the types of food that we ate that night. We don’t really have themes for her parties because we’re the only ones who really make anything. This time around i tried my first attempt at making grilled pork skewers moo ping (not to be confused…

    Despicable Me 2

Its very rare when i’m actually excited about a sequel to a movie than the original, but somehow Despicable Me 2 did it. Its one of those rare “cute” movies where i didn’t feel like it was going to be full of cringe worthy moments and for the most part i was correct on my assumptions. It was definitely moving towards the top of the best movies for this summer and i would recommend to go see it even as an adult. Spoilers from here on out   What did i like? Minions. Minions. Minions. It makes perfect sense that they’re getting their own movie next year. Even if you…

    The Heat

Its been a busy summer for movies, and we’ve seen a lot so far, so i’m happy that Joy found out that all Regal Cinemas have Discount Tuesdays at all locations so last week we went to the Rolling Hills Promenade Regal 13 for an early evening showing of the Heat. Joy is a new Melissa McCarthy fan, and a long time Sandra Bullock fan so she really wanted to watch this movie, while i was only so so about it. I’m going to keep this review short, because its one of those movies where you’ll find on TV randomly and just end up watching it over and over again.…

    the 4th

The 4th of July seemed to creep on me this year, and thankfully i don’t really need to plan any activities since we seem to have a new tradition with Joy’s family. Thursday morning Joy and I packed up our beach gear and headed to Manhattan Beach to reserve a volleyball court. By 9am the beach was getting busy and we were lucky to get a really close parking spot. Soon later the entire 20 person clan arrived with lots of snacks and chair. My legs have been really hurting lately so i didn’t partake in the volleyball action but did get some good reading time in. For dinner we…

    A Movie and a Cemetery

Last month Tiffany and Ben invited us to Cinespia showing of The Princess Bride. If you don’t know Cinespia uses the Hollywood Cemetery as a backdrop to show classic movies. I thinks its a bit morbid, but at the same time its a thing to do in Los Angeles now a days. Its was a fun experience and amazing how many people they get in there to watch next to someone’s headstone. We arrived about 30 minutes before they opened the gate and still ended up sitting all the way back and slightly to the left of the screen. You can see how many people showed up before we did in the picture…

World War Z – the movie

World War Z is still one of my favorite books that i pick up to read random chapters at any time. When i heard they were making a movie out of it, i was initially excited for it, then scared that they would mess it up. I found hope again when I found out that Brad Pitt is one of my favorite actors and i’m usually pretty happy in any movie that he’s in. The biggest worry is that the actual book doesn’t have a storyline but more individual accounts by different people around the world to highlight the progression of the Zombie Apocalypse so i knew that the flow of the…

    Asian Street Food Night

I’m pretty happy that we’ve been able to get to the 3rd dinner party for the Costa Mesa gang. The summer event was a Asian Street Food Night, which was a good mixture of food from all of our home countries. We gathered once again at Robin’s house which i dubbed the Sun Hawker Centre as all the foods stalls are called in Singapore. Joy made some Khao Mun Gai, and I ended up making some Luk Ching Ping (grilled meatballs). Robin’s sister and brother in-law made some Singaporean Laksa, Ben brought over some of his mom’s homemade Lumpia, Pork Belly Gua Bao from Robin, and Mango Sticky Rice from Andy…

    Los Dodgers

I always see people at Dodger games and always think that i should go to one again since the last time i went was back at my first trip to New York in 2004 where i saw them play the Mets at Shea Stadium. Friday night Janelle bought tickets to go to the Dodgers game and watch the fireworks afterwards. The thing is about baseball is that you’ll only really enjoy it if you actually like watching baseball. Its definitely not an event for the novice because the game will run for 3+ hours, with a lot of delay between any type of real action. I thought it would be best to arrive…
