    Shane’s 50/50 Lunch

For Shane’s 34th birthday i got the guys together to celebrate at Slater’s 50/50 in Huntington Beach. I’ve been told about Slater’s for their 50% Beef 50% Bacon burger patty a few times, and thought this would be a perfect chance to try it out. We got there early on a Sunday afternoon and it was a good thing because by the time we left there was a huge wait in the patio. The interior is quite cavernous with plenty of TVs all around the restaurant. We had a party of 12 and the service seemed a bit slow to deliver our food. As far as the food goes i consider…

    Birthday Girl

Joy turned 33 on Saturday and it was a weekend full of fun for her. On Friday i did something i’ve never done before, and actually sent flowers to her work. She honestly thought she had a secret admirer and had no idea it was from me! Saturday evening we met up with her friends at Thai Nakorn in Stanton for a feast of fried fish, papaya salad, and she somehow ended up with three cakes! I bought her a vanilla/coconut/pineapple cake from SusieCakes, Mevelyn bought her a coffee cake, and May bought her a cheesecake. We were so stuffed from dinner we barely touched any of them. Sunday morning…

Top 10 Things to Eat at Disneyland

Disneyland isn’t typically known for its world famous cuisine, but there are some very delicious things to snack on when you are in the park. Some you’ll find at restaurants while other items you can find from outdoor vendors (ODV). Granted most of the items are fried, but one thing Disney knows is how to cater towards the fat tourist waddling around the park. 1. Corn Dog The Corn Dog ($6) at the Red Wagon Corn Dog Cart is a favorite for kids and adults. Its a fat hot dog encased in a cornbread coating served with a bag of chips. Its so big that its actually pretty difficult to eat one…

    West LA Date Night

Saturday afternoon was spent at Joy’s family’s house to celebrate Chinese New Years, and afterwards we went home to do some cooking and cleaning because we were told not to do any cleaning on Sunday. Something about sweeping your fortune away or something like that. Saturday night we were getting really lazy, but we forced our butts out of the house and went out to Next Door by Josie, which happens to be next door to Josie. We were looking for something light to eat, and we’ve been to the parent restaurant Josie a few years ago for my birthday and thought we should give it a shot. We focused…

    Food Bloggers Super Bowl

For the actual Super Bowl i was invited to attend the Fantasy Food Blogger Football League’s BBQ at the Ravenous Couple‘s house. It was a good opportunity to meet more of the blogging community and to test out some of my cooking skills. We ended up not staying till the end because we were so tired from the 10K in the morning that we headed home with the lights went out after half time.  I did end up winning the Final Super Bowl Square score with the safety, and put those winning towards next year’s Food Blogger Bowl. I wanted to get a little creative and went into my mind to find…

    Redondo Beach Super Bowl Run

The Redondo Beach 10K was the first 10K that i’ve ran since the Santa Monica 10K in 2010 and it was a rough one. This race was particularly fun because Joy and I were able to meet up with Eric from LVI at the beginning of the race, and bumped into Tony in the middle of the run. I had one month to train for the race, and i was on a really good training schedule up until last weekend when i pulled my hamstring, quad, and calf on on my right leg. So this past week i hadn’t been able to run. Things were going smoothly for the first 3…

    #topsecretcarpentersclub

Saturday morning the first official meeting of the #topsecretcarpentersclub. A completely public group of friends brought together to cut, sand and assemble projects straight out of our mind into reality. This all started off with my first project, and spurred a lot of interest in friends who probably spend too much time in front of a computer and not enough time getting their hands dirty. The first project for the group were some long standing tables to use in the office. The theory is that Jonathan and i share an office now and complain that we spend all day sitting, slouching, getting fatter, and getting flatter asses.  If we could have tables where we could just…
