Year in Review 2010

Best Trip: Hawaii, Best Meal: Fried Apple Pie

I’m going to go ahead and just combine this years trip and single serving of food into one. I had been dying to eat a classic Fried Apple pie again since it had been decades (not counting the fried banana pie i had on my honeymoon). Biting into the crispy crust and having the molten hot apple filling burn the insides of my mouth while sitting next to the crashing waves was the perfect combination. Although i have been told by Ben that you can get the same pie at KFC, but i’m not going to try it, and keep it as a Hawaii treat.

Best Book: The Book of Basketball

This year i did a bit of rounding out my readings beyond just zombie books (even if i did read 3 more this year) i went with a classic of 1984 by George Orwell, an autobiography of Russell Brand, Booky Wook, but the one i pick up again again to reference is a huge thick book about the NBA by Bill Simmons of ESPN. Its a really in depth book that breaks the league into different decades that goes through before the NBA and ABA merged, the cocaine era, to modern day drama with Kobe and Shaq. He also goes ahead and lists his top 50 players of NBA time taking into accounts MVPs or championships that were given to the wrong players or teams.

Its like AMC knew what I was reading the entire year when they decide to release The Walking Dead. After reading books like the Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z, the release of Resident Evil 4 and listening to the We’re Alive Podcast this was a great show to come out on Halloween. The show is so well produced and sticks to the basic Zombie theory its back to the apocalyptic world of unrest and hidden fears the surviving few.

Modern Family had another great season, and Glee wasn’t bad either. Top Chef, and Top Chef Masters had another good season, but i just couldn’t take a bite into Top Chef Just Desserts, honestly it was just too Gay. The NBA finals were once again with the Lakers facing off against the Celtics. Finally the guilty pleasure that i’ve just gotten into was Storage Wars on A&E. Its like a sneak peak into the ghetto world of treasure hunting. I don’t know why i get a kick out of how much trash all the characters talk about each other and its something that I can imagine myself doing since i basically do that already when i got to a thrift shop.

My favorite movie of 2010 has to be Inception because it makes you think about the movie well past the theatre doors. Between trying to remember what level of dream the scene is and the different characters roles are you’re on the edge of the seat until the conclusion where you actually don’t know if you what you just watched was what you just watched.  There were plenty of movies that I enjoyed this year and my list as follows.
