    Year in Review 2010

Best Trip: Hawaii, Best Meal: Fried Apple Pie I’m going to go ahead and just combine this years trip and single serving of food into one. I had been dying to eat a classic Fried Apple pie again since it had been decades (not counting the fried banana pie i had on my honeymoon). Biting into the crispy crust and having the molten hot apple filling burn the insides of my mouth while sitting next to the crashing waves was the perfect combination. Although i have been told by Ben that you can get the same pie at KFC, but i’m not going to try it, and keep it as…

    Work Retreat

For a thanks to the employees of WORK we treated them for some retreat in Las Vegas. It was 3 days of team building, drinking, and looking forward to the up coming year. We stayed at the New York New York hotel which really reminds me of New York, old, dingy, and needs a make over. The first night we arrived checked in and got started drinking right away then headed to the sports bar to place some bets on the Lakers and watch the game. We did some dancing at Lavo and had another dinner at Bouchon. I’m not quite certain about why, but I had a terrible night…

    Happy Holidays

The beginning of the end of the year happened to fall on the weekend this year which made for lots of time with family. After all the food my belly is really testing the elasticity of my pj’s but i enjoyed every minute of it. Friday afternoon Joy and i got together with the cousins for Thai food at Thai Nakorn where we had the usual crying tiger, fish soup, fried fish, and mi krop. We handed out gifts and Katie seemed to like the singing Belle (Beauty and the Beast ) doll, which i hope my cousin pish wont hate us for in a week or more. At dinner my sister…

Fantasy Football: Out of the money

Before i even got started i’m out of the running to win the The All VETO n NO TRADE League. On the Thursday night game, my opponent had both Philip Rivers and Vincent Jackson playing which put me down 50 points even before any of my players took the field. It was a great season none the less considering that what ever happens this weekend for 3rd place will be my best finish in five years. I had a very strange season relying on mainly wide receivers (Andre Johnson, Miles Austin, Jeremy Maclin, Malcom Floyd, and Mike Williams (TB)) and as expected gave me very lopsided scores one way or another. I came…

    Holiday Cookie Party

December is always the month that the oven gets cranking and lots of baking gets done. This year Joy and I invited people over to our place to have a cookie bake off of sorts. We had a very nice number of people bake fresh cookies and even more that came just to eat. For my entry i made Molasses and Toffee cookies, and Joy baked White Chocolate Chip, Macadamia Nut, Cranberry cookies. Ben made his classic oatmeal, while Tiffany made a new Nutella Cookie. We also had some sable, chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, and rum balls which all tasted good, but maybe because they all started to taste the same at the…

Al Noor – Chicken Tikka Masala

Affectionately known as CTM, is the burning goodness that had me at the first spoonful. It was actually difficult for me to choose just one dish from Al Noor because i love all their dishes (minus the tandoori) but this was the dish that got me hooked on Indian Food. This dish itself is creamy, spicy, full of flavor and the best i’ve had from anywhere. I’ve been told its not as authentic as other places but when something tastes this good, who cares. Its literally one of the few dishes that i can have for lunch, and dinner on the same day. Be careful not to get any on…

    Hipster Holiday Soiree!

I had been battling a cold for the past week and did my best to get healthy again by Saturday for Andrea’s annual Christmas Party, this year titled Hipster Holiday Soiree! I drank gallons of water with emergen-c, chicken soup, and plenty of tylenol to get well enough to attend. I made a pot of chili from scratch (even the beans) bought a pretty clever white elephant gift too, and I was pretty happy that all i really needed to buy for my outfit was a t-shirt from H&M that was on sale for a buck! The Hipster scene is a pretty interesting/lame style thats been pretty popular and by…

    Bouchon – Chicken and Waffles

The first dish that i want to highlight is the magical Chicken and Waffles from Bouchon. Sure the chicken isn’t fried, but its super moist and has the best crispy skin. The chicken is served with waffles cooked with chives in them and served with a bacon jus, and Tahitian vanilla bean butter. Its the perfect blend of sweet, savory and crunch. Originally only served during brunch at the Las Vegas location, but is now being served at the Bouchon in  Beverly Hills. I still prefer eating it only in Las Vegas, as it gives me something to look forward to when headed out to the desert. Its not as…
