    Mini Marathon

Joy signed us up to run the Santa Monica 10k coming up in a few weeks, and we’ve been training for a few weeks now. We also had to buy some new shoes because the ones that i was using made my knee hurt because they were neutral shoes and i guess still need a little help with my overpronation. I was originally just going to spend the excessive cash and buy the Asics Gel Kayanos which normally cost $140, but they running store guy said that i should try these Nike Lunarglide+ which are suppose to adjust depending on how your foot steps down. They’re super light shoes and…

    Sleeping in new heights

This weekend our tax return money finally got deposited into our bank account so Sunday we spent the afternoon walking from store to store on Hawthorne and learned plenty about beds. Between individual coils to memory foam and what not, we eventually settled on the closest thing to the Westin Heavenly bed that we could figure out. The individual coils should help Joy not noticed when i’m doing back flips while i sleep and being the first queen size bed i’ve ever owned. Its also the first bed that’s been on an actual frame in three years or so which makes it real high and  I really hope that I…

    36 hours of Vegas

When it was all said and done for our 36 hours of vegas fun, I ended up drinking for some 20 hours straight. It all started at the airport waiting for our flight at 6:30am, and ended with a bottle of vodka at 1am. It was one of the best vegas trips ever, with no stress, just a constant buzz, and plenty of things to do. We ate at the Wynn lunch buffet (weak) with unlimited mimosas for $7, and the waitress gave us the rest of the bottle to go in coffee cups. We hung out at the pool for a few hours, picked up some mini jack bottles…

    WORK’ing in Vegas

This weekend I’m headed to vegas for a little R&R and to do a little work. Jonathan, Thomas and I planned a last-call/guy-get-away weekend to just relax and talk about work, and it just so happened to be a weekend that one of our clients is out doing a tradeshow as well. We decided to buy some passes to the show and pass out some promotional material to drum up some more business. This coincided perfectly with our new branding and website that we just launched on Tuesday. We’re only going to be in vegas from Friday until Saturday evening because i just hate partying saturday night to have to…

Out to lunch with a Top Chef

I had no idea that Brian from Top Chef season 1 has a lunch truck rolling around Los Angeles serving up southern comfort food. I checked a twitter food truck list and found out he was out in Santa Monica serving fried chicken sliders which were small but really delicious. For once a lunch truck that didn’t completely cost a fortune although a little light on the side dishes.

    un-Kick Ass weekend

This weekend was pretty much a wash for me. Starting at the middle of last week my kitchen sink has been on the fritz so we haven’t been able to cook, or even get a glass of water without having to think twice about it. After a few attempt by myself and my neighbor snaking the drain ourselves, the drain finally (i think) got cleared out on Saturday night. I’ve never been so happy to dishes in my life. I was also a bit careless driving on Friday and happened to make a turn into a drive a little too soon, and popped my tire, and when i took my…

    The Wedding Book

At least i finished and got our wedding book printed before the anniversary of our Cerritos reception. 34 pages of memories from the Hawaii wedding, Maui Honeymoon, and Cerritos reception. It was a good first run with Blurb, and if i had to do it over i would have made it bigger in size and in page count. The 10×8 format is feeling a little small, but at least the full bleed images have a new clear resolution to them, and the silk paper that i splurged on is quite nice. As a wedding book to come in under $50 a print it is definitely a good alternative if you…

    UYE Basketball

UYE (Unofficial Yelp Event) Basketball. One of the thing that i’ve never really taken apart of were UYE events that every yelp members throw together for a group outing somewhere. I’ve always been a little hesitant about meeting up with the eating events, but when a basketball meet up was arranged i was all about it. Nothing like driving through east LA amidst the aging homes of a densely populate Mexican town to meet up at some gym i’ve never heard with a group of people that i’ve never talked to before. I was honestly more worried about having a heart attack on the court than anything else that the…

This happened to be one of the best chickens that Joy and I have made, so i figured that I would share it with you. Home Cookin’

When i saw the title to this week’s No Reservation: Techniques i knew instantly that it was going to be an awesome with a bit of humor, lots of cussing and plenty of tips for the kitchen. The show did not disappoint with lessons from making an egg to a roast chicken (by Thomas Keller) and of a beef bourguignon that joy’s been interested in doing since watching Julie & Julia. I know i’ve got a lot of work with my knife skills, but i haven’t had a major accident in a really long time, just make sure you don’t watch when i’m in the kitchen or else you might…

    the Winner of the bracket

Thanks to Duke, i’m the winner. It all came down to Brian and I with the winner of Duke (my pick) vs. West Virginia (Brian’s) with the winner coming out with the most points in my NCAA bracket tournament. I really have no idea what i was doing, i just went by the rule that don’t count out the Dukies, especially after hearing all the experts just complaining about them getting a number one seed this year, so i knew something was up. I’ll have to get ready to repeat next year with as much research i did this year. Absolutely none. I think this is the first time that…

    Its been a long road.

This week was a milestone in my little car. Eight years ago my family sat inside the Honda dealership in Cerritos on my 23rd birthday to replace my Acura Integra at the time. Its amazing that it took me this long to reach 100,000 miles considering after the first year I drove over 22,000 miles and hit 40,000 after two years. The car is still running strong and i still appreciate how much crap i can carry in it. The question now is what to do next. Should i keep it and just continue to drive it until it has nothing left, or is time to get the $5,000 –…
